iTunes 12.2 How To Fix iCloud Purchases Not Showing

A recent bug with iTunes 12.2 is iCloud purchases like Music, TV shows, Movies, etc, are not showing for some people. Even logging out and back into your iTunes account doesn't seem to fix the issue.

In older versions of iTunes there used to be a setting that said, 'Show iTunes In The Cloud Purchases', and checking this on used to fix the problem when purchases didn't show. This option however, is now removed from iTunes in version 12.2.

Even with the latest version of iTunes, Apple haven't yet seemed to fix this bug, but there is a work around!

Go to the TV Shows tab (or the Movies tab), then click "View" on the Menu Bar. Look for the two options, "All TV Shows" and "Only TV Shows Available Offline". Check "Only TV Shows Available Offline", wait a few seconds, then check the option back to "All TV Shows". Your iCloud purchases should then appear.

I must give all credit for this tip to the users on the Apple Support Communities. This tip worked for me and was too important not to share for everyone who may have experienced this bug.

Watch 360 Degree Videos On Your Mobile With Google's New App

A new app from Google brings you the latest advances in mobile technology; 360 spherical story telling.

'Google Spotlight Stories', brings engineers and critically-acclaimed filmmakers together to create 3D and 2D, 360 degree cinema-quality video with sound sphere audio, and sensor fusion techniques.

Using the accelerometers on your iPhone, you can enter into the world of the story with the ability to look around in any direction.

At the moment, Google Spotlight Stories movie theater features 4 stories; Help (free for a limited time), Duet, Buggy Night, and Windy Day.

'Help' directed by Justin Lin, is the first live-action Spotlight Story. In the middle of downtown Los Angeles a unexpected meteor shower hits the streets of Chinatown. The next unfolding events sees a young women trying desperately to escape.

While the 360 degree video is cool, you can look anywhere and see the whole place as if you're really there, I don't know if it's really great for story telling. Most of the time you're just moving around trying to follow with the story - because the story is moving. It can actually be quite dizzying.

So, cool technology, definitely check it out, but I don't think I'm sold on the idea. I'd still prefer to watch movies on a TV or in a normal cinema - without all the twisting and turning.

-> Google Spotlight Stories is free to download, available from the iTunes App Store.

YouTube Mobile App Gets Redesign & Vertical Video Fullscreen Playback

New YouTube Mobile App Redesign (Android)
Today the YouTube mobile app has gotten a new 'material design' upgrade, with added new features. The new interface is available for Android users now, with the iOS update coming soon.

The new update features include a simplified three new tab interface; Home, Subscriptions, and Account.

Also, we may hate when people record video in vertical mode, but before it was even more frustrating trying to view the thin videos on a mobile device. Well, todays new update (iOS included) also adds support to play vertical videos in fullscreen mode.

Another new added feature to the redesigned YouTube app is a new set of video creation tools. You can now use the YouTube app to trim your footage, add filters, music, and upload - all from within the one app.

-> Read more about the new YouTube app on the Official YouTube Blog.

Google Chrome for iOS Gets Swipe To Go Back/Forward Gestures

Google Chrome for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad has received an update recently that adds a much welcome feature to the web browser; the ability to swipe to navigate back and forward through pages.

iOS users would know of the handy gestures in Safari of simply swiping from the right side of the screen to the middle to go back to the previous page (or the opposite way to go forward). Google Chrome on iOS was missing this gesture previously, as swiping the screen instead used to switch to different open tabs.  But now with the latest update, you can navigate with gestures - just like in Apple's Safari.

-> Google Chrome for iOS is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store.

Official TWiT App Currently Free To Download - iPhone / iPad

The TWiT and TWiTpad (iPad version) app by ShiftKey Software is currently on sale and is FREE to download for iOS devices, down from the previous price of USD$0.99.

The apps made by ShiftKey Software are known as the official and original apps made for the TWiT.TV Netcast website.

TWiT, if you don't know, is a web podcast website that offers many technology themed shows - live and on-demand - for free.

With the app, users can stream live video. Watch previously recorded shows. AirPlay shows. Stream to any Bluetooth device. Live chat. View the TWIT real-time calendar. And more...

In my opinion of the app, I felt that the user interface wasn't that great or polished. It looks very lazily put together. Like an old 90's webpage. I also experienced an app crash while trying to load video. In the iPhone version of the app I tested, shows aren't even presented nicely - they're just listed. until you choose a show.

I'd still recommend using the TWiT.TV website, or a podcast app.

You can download the TWiT and TWiTpad apps by ShiftKey Software from the iTunes App Store.

Play Stephen Colbert's New Story Game 'Escape From The Man-Sized Cabinet'

Stephen Colbert still has a couple of months to go until The Late Show With Stephen Colbert begins on September 8th 2015 on CBS. In the meantime, Stephen and his team has been keeping busy with all the plaining of the studio, the show, and other fun material for fans like; Podcasts, web videos, an App, and more.

The latest from Stephen Colbert is a new choose-your-own-adventure style story game titled, "Escape From The Man-Sized Cabinet."

Stephen Colbert jokes in a 'press release' on the Late Show website:
Its no wonder people love Escape from the Man-Sized Cabinet so much. Its the worlds greatest Stephen Colbert simulator unless my whole life is some kind of elaborate Matrix-like virtual reality.
Escape From The Man-Sized Cabinet is a text based story game with some cartoon images. The story begins with Stephen getting trapped inside a man-sided cabinet, like the title suggests. It's then up to the player to choose from different options as to what Stephen will do next and how the adventure will unfold. However, while there are different options to choose from - you'll end up picking the option the game wants you too in order to progress in the story.

All Colbert fans (and everybody else) should definitely check out the story game on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert website.

Pokmon is set to release a match-3 style puzzle game, like Candy Crush Saga, Candy Mania, Bejeweled, Angry Birds Fight!, and so on... for iOS and Android devices, sometime later this year (2015).

In Pokmon Shuffle Mobile, players will clear areas and battle wild Pokmon by matching up Pokmon of the same to create attacks, which you use to battle and defeat the Pokmon, before you run out of moves. You can then try and catch it!

How To Fix A Malfunctioning Apple Watch

Is your Apple Watch experiencing some bugs, or is just not seeming to function quite right? The Apple Watch is still a new product, and it's likely that it may experience some software glitches occasionally. All computers seem too.

With a malfunctioning Apple Watch, your best bet is to switch it off and back on again with what's known as a Hard Reset. Note: this is not the same as restoring your Apple Watch.

To Hard Reset your Apple Watch:

- Hold down the Digital Crown Button and the Second Button together, until the watch powers off and the Apple logo appears on screen.

If this doesn't fix the problem you were experiencing, you may need to try and Restore your Apple Watch (see here for more details). If this fails as well, maybe it's time to visit the Apple Geniuses.

How To Disable Adobe Flash Player In Apple's Safari & Google Chrome Web Browsers

Are you tired about hearing about all of these Adobe Flash exploits? Do we really even need Flash Player in our web browsers these days? Flash used to be used in a lot of websites, but these days Flash has been used a lot less, thanks to the iPhone and iPad not supporting Flash, and because of other tools becoming popular, like HTML5. Not even YouTube needs Flash player anymore.

If you think you don't need Flash on your web browser anymore, maybe it's time to remove or disable Flash altogether.

To make this transition, lets start with just disabling Adobe Flash from your web browser(s). As this is mainly a Mac / iOS website, I'll mention how to, for the two most popular browsers; Google Chrome and Apple's Safari.

To disable Adobe Flash Player in Google Chrome:

1. Type into the address bar: chrome://plugins

2. Find on the list "Adobe Flash Player".

3. Click "Disable".

Or the other option is to set all plugins to disabled by default and to ask you to enable them when detected. To access this setting;

1. Type into the address bar: chrome://settings/content

2. Scroll down to, "Plugins".

3. Select option, "Let me choose when to run plugin content".

To Disable Adobe Flash in Apple's Safari:

1. Launch Safari, then click "Safari" in the in the Apple Menu Bar.

2. Click "Preferences".

3. Click on the "Security" tab.

4. Under heading "Internet plug-ins", click "Website Settings".

5. Click "Adobe Flash Player" on the sidebar.

6. Configure sites (if any) listed in the box, then below on title "When visiting other websites", change option to, "Block", or "Ask", if you still want the option to enable Flash on some websites.
